Srinagar, Mar 28 (KNO): In its continuing efforts to combat the menace of drugs, Police in Budgam on Friday said to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possessions.
A Police Party of Police Station Charar-I-Sharief at a checkpoint established near Sports Stadium Charar-I-Sharief, intercepted a vehicle (Load Carrier) bearing Registration No. JK01AS-9968 for routine checking, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
However, during the search of the vehicle, heroin-like substances in two separate paper rolls weighing 12 grams approximately were recovered from their possession. Subsequently, both the individuals identified as Imran Ahmad Qasba son of Nazir Ahmad Qasba resident of Mehjoor Nagar Srinagar and Imran Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Mohammad Shah resident of Mangan Wachi Kanipora Srinagar on board were arrested on the spot. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, police said.
Accordingly, police said that a case FIR number 15/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Charar-I-Sharief and investigation has been set into motion.
“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said—(KNO)
